Dr. Ramon Yacab is a leading Belizean medical oncologist dedicated to advancing cancer care in Belize. He earned his medical degree from the University of San Carlos of Guatemala and specialized in Medical Oncology at the UMAE Hospital de Oncología, Siglo XXI, of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), with certification from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
He holds additional qualifications in pain management from the Autonomous University of Chiapas and a master’s degree in Palliative Care from Galileo University in Guatemala. Dr. Yacab currently leads the Oncology Unit at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Authority (KHMHA) and also practices privately at Belize Healthcare Partners.
Board-certified by the Consejo Mexicano de Oncología, Dr. Yacab is actively involved in multiple international professional organizations, including the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO), the Latin American Society of Medical Oncology (SLACOM), the International Association for Hospice and Palliative Care (IAHPC), and the Advanced Breast Cancer Alliance.
His work is driven by a strong commitment to equity and access in oncology and palliative care. He plays a key role in national initiatives to develop public oncology programs, train healthcare professionals, and establish treatment guidelines for the benefit of all Belizeans.
